01. Project Overview
Shuang Hor Enterprise (M) Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian health and wellness company specialising in products made from Ganoderma (Lingzhi). The brand has a long-standing presence in the market, but their existing digital design felt outdated and did not reflect the premium, innovative nature of their products.
This project focused on revamping their website design to move away from an old-fashioned look and introduce a more bold, modern, and visually striking experience, while still clearly presenting product information for customers.
02. The Objective
The main objectives of this project were to:
- Refresh the brand’s visual presence with a more modern and extraordinary design
- Avoid an overly corporate look while still maintaining professionalism
- Clearly showcase products and detailed information for customers
- Introduce a notice board section to update customers on upcoming announcements
- Design a meeting schedule feature where customers can view dates and details easily
03. Design Approach
The design approach focused on pushing visual boundaries while keeping the experience cohesive and user-friendly. Each section was carefully curated to feel visually engaging and premium, using strong layouts, refined typography, and subtle motion to elevate the overall experience without overwhelming the user. Animations and interactions were used intentionally to guide attention and add polish, rather than purely for decoration.
For the meeting schedule feature, a calendar-based view was chosen as it felt intuitive and familiar to users. Each date can be clicked to reveal more information through a pop-up detail view, allowing users to access details quickly without leaving the page.
Overall, the goal was to balance creativity and usability — bold enough to stand out, but clear enough to serve its purpose.
04. Problem Faced
This was the first project during my internship where I experienced direct client revision on design direction.
Initially, the design was created using a white theme, and the structure and layout were already aligned with the final product. However, after client feedback, it became clear that while the design was clean, it lacked the “wow factor” they wanted for their customers.
To meet their expectations and push the design further, the entire interface was revised into a dark theme, which better conveyed a premium, bold, and modern feel aligned with Ganoderma’s positioning. This required revisiting color usage, contrast, hierarchy, and motion across all pages to ensure consistency and readability.
05. Outcome
The final design successfully delivered a more impactful and visually distinctive experience while maintaining clarity and usability. The dark theme elevated the brand perception, helping Shuang Hor move away from an outdated look and toward a more modern, premium identity.
The product pages clearly present detailed information, the notice board makes updates more visible to customers, and the calendar-based meeting schedule provides an intuitive way to view and access important dates. Most importantly, the revised design achieved the client’s goal of creating a stronger visual impression that feels fresh, confident, and engaging.
